Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse will provide patient care in the Cardiac Telemetry unit. The role requires strong experience in cardiac nursing and the ability to manage complex cardiac cases effectively. This position demands high-level clinical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage patients with various cardiac conditions, including Atrial Fibrillation, Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, and more.
• Administer cardiac drips and monitor patients following post-operative and procedural care.
• Conduct sheath removals and manage external CPAP/BIPAP, as well as other airway management tasks.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias while ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.
• Work collaboratively with the medical team to provide optimal patient care across a range of cardiac procedures and interventions.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor is required. Traveler experience is needed unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Certifications: Must hold current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Skills: Proficient in Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown care, dysrhythmia interpretation, sheath management, and chest tube management.
• Preferred Skills: Experience with arterial line management, wound care, and charge nurse responsibilities.

Working Conditions

• Shift: Nights, 36 hours per week.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:6, which may vary depending on patient acuity.
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekends every 4 weeks, with flexibility considered.
• Mandatory participation in storm and hurricane teams, with potential work required during catastrophic events.

Unit Details

The unit specializes in a variety of cardiac surgeries and procedures, such as CABG, TAVR, and post-cardiac catheterization care. Familiarity with specialized equipment and documentation systems, including Pyxis and EPIC, is essential.

Orientation

A 24-hour orientation program will be provided to ensure seamless integration into the team and unit protocols.

Dress Code

Navy scrubs are required while on duty.
