Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. You will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a Medical-Surgical unit. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, excellent at communication, and capable of working in a variety of challenging situations, including inclement weather or emergency events.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for adult and geriatric patients in a general medical/surgical setting.
• Manage patient medications and treatments, including heparin drips and wound vacuum dressing changes.
• Support high flow oxygen and BiPap therapy where necessary.
• Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to unit operations and patient care plans.
• Work as part of the Inclement Weather and Storm/Hurricane Team, reporting to work during severe weather conditions and emergencies.

Shift Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights, from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Rotation includes every other weekend and holidays.
• Unit orientation is 24 hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting.
• Epic experience is required.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• Charge nurse experience and CPI certification are preferred.

Patient Care Focus

The primary patient population includes adults and geriatrics with general medical and surgical needs. The unit typically manages a daily census of approximately 43 patients. There are no PCU level patients in this unit.

Additional Information

All travelers and staff are expected to attend monthly unit team meetings, which occur on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 17:30, with alterations during November and December. Additional meetings for night staff will follow on the immediately subsequent Friday morning.

This position may involve caring for COVID-19 patients as deemed necessary based on current health guidelines and protocol.
