Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a Progressive Care Unit specializing in post-operative open heart and other cardiothoracic post-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. This role involves accepting Med/Surg overflow and maintaining a patient ratio of 4:1.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in a progressive care setting.
• Assist with chest tube insertion, management, and removal.
• Manage central lines and provide care for external/internal pacemakers and wound vacs.
• Monitor and assess patient condition, ensuring prompt response to any changes.
• Float to various units as necessary to meet facility needs.

Work Schedule

• Available shifts: 3×12 or 4×12 hour nights (7 PM – 7 AM).
• Every other weekend commitment required.
• Orientation sessions held every other week on Thursday.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Experience with chest tube management and central line placement is essential.
• Ability to handle pacemaker and wound vac management is necessary.
• Must possess a valid RN license in the state of West Virginia.

Additional Information

• Guaranteed 36 hours of work per week.
• Parking is free for nurses working in this unit.
• Holiday RTO requests are limited to one of the three major holidays.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required; medical/religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis.
