Medical Technologist

About the Position

This position is for a Medical Technologist specializing in Diagnostic Microbiology. The role involves performing a variety of essential laboratory tests to support high-quality diagnostics in a clinical setting.

Shift Details

• Shift: 5×8 Hours, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating Weekends & Holidays (currently every 3rd weekend, subject to change)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine and specialized laboratory tests.
• Conduct quality control procedures and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
• Maintain laboratory instruments, including regular preventative maintenance.
• Perform Gram stain readings and culture plate setups.
• Execute rapid molecular testing, including BioFire Torch panels and Cepheid assays.
• Communicate technical information effectively to both medical professionals and the public.
• Assist in training laboratory personnel in standard procedures.
• Engage in continuing education to maintain and enhance professional skills.
• Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory values.
• Model professional standards of behavior in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience preferred.
• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline.
• Certification: Must be certified as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or possess an equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification.
• Highly preferred experience in microbiology and Beaker systems.
• Experience required: Gram stain reading, plating, and rapid PCR setup.

• Radius Rule: 60 miles
• Guaranteed Hours: The facility may call off one shift every two weeks.
