Director of Nursing (DON) / RN Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee nursing operations within a Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care Facility. This leadership position requires accountability for clinical oversight and the implementation of best practices in nursing care.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate nursing care activities to enhance continuity of care.
• Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
• Provide ongoing education to assure the competency of staff.
• Offer consultative direction and expertise in all areas of nursing services.
• Supervise nursing staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, and delegation of duties according to budget guidelines.
• Act as a patient advocate and resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Complete, evaluate, and report monthly quality data on care metrics such as falls and skin integrity.
• Develop and maintain departmental objectives and standards of nursing practice.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement new techniques and nursing care standards.
• Organize resident care programs in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Create an environment that respects each resident’s rights to make choices regarding their care.
• Monitor and enforce departmental policies and infection control practices.
• Contribute to the budget process and maintain monthly expense records.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• BSN required upon hire.
• 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory role in long-term care nursing or demonstrated leadership in a long-term care facility.
• Knowledge of reimbursement systems and State and Federal Regulations in Long-Term Care.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Approved CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Additional certification may be required based on unit specifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS).

Shift Information

• Monday to Friday Day Shift with 24/7 accountability required.
• Holiday coverage is required.

Minimum Years of Experience

3 years of experience in a relevant role is required.

Certifications / Requirements

• BLS/BCLS certification required.
