Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) practices independently within a complex clinical setting, delivering comprehensive patient care. The nurse demonstrates awareness of situational factors impacting care and is equipped to manage the clinical environment effectively. This role involves providing routine and complex care, making appropriate assignments, and offering delegation to other healthcare providers as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill the expectations of applicable competencies, embodying the principles of leadership in self, others, or within the organization.
• Utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to deliver nursing care to assigned patients, adhering to established standards.
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to the level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and comprehensively.
• Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying relevant issues and available resources.

Requirements

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or a compact license is required.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to a full-time schedule of 5 days, with 8-hour shifts. Weekend on-call responsibilities apply, including two weekend call shifts per month and one call night per week. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to float to other departments within Surgical Services as needed.
