Emergency Room Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Nurse to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. This position requires comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in emergency medical care.

Shift Information

• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Unit Details

• Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Patient Volume: Approximately 180-200 visits per day
• Staffing Ratios: 1 nurse per 4 patients
• Healthcare Team: Includes charge nurses, nurse aides/paramedics (5-6 per shift), and security/patient sitters
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Peds to geriatrics including trauma and neuro cases
• Behavioral Health: 6 bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatric professionals
• EMR: Meditech 6.15

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in emergency care with at least 1 travel assignment completed
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• Specialized Skills: Must have experience with Meditech
• Transportation: Driver’s license must reflect an address within a 75-mile radius

Operational Expectations

• Must adhere to the callout process established for agency staff.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation during the first week is mandatory; approval required for any delays.
• Caribbean blue scrubs are required.
• Auto lunch deductions will be applied.

Additional Information

The emergency department operates with a 24/7 respiratory therapy team and offers pharmacy services on campus around the clock. Nurses perform their own lab draws and can start IVs independently.
