Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with orthopedic work experience to join our fast-paced unit. This position offers an opportunity to provide quality care to orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients. The ideal candidate should possess comprehensive clinical skills and the ability to manage patient pain effectively.

Contract Duration

The unit is currently accepting 20+ week contracts up to February 27, 2027, to ensure adequate staffing through the holiday season.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
• 36 or 48-hour weeks available
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is mandatory. Any RN call-offs on weekends will need to be made up on weekends.

Patient Population

Average Daily Census: 37 patients in a unit with 39 beds. The patient population primarily includes:

• Orthopedic patients
• Neuro spine patients
• Med-surg patients
• Post-surgical patients

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1, with some flexibility to 7:1 in extreme cases.
• Float to other medical-surgical units within the facility as needed based on staffing requirements.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on patient outcomes and efficient care delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in orthopedics.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is acceptable for first-time travelers.
• Required certifications: BCLS, NIH.
• Skills: IV start and telemetry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification.
• Charge nurse experience.
• Experience working in a Level I trauma setting.

Additional Notes

• No holiday requests for time off (RTO) will be approved.
• All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting.
