Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in Labor and Delivery to provide high-quality care in a dynamic setting. The candidate must possess strong skills in both Labor & Delivery and Couplet Care, ensuring the best outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in Labor and Delivery, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and manage abnormal patterns using both external and internal monitoring techniques.
• Assist with deliveries and perform necessary procedures, including circulating in the operating room for C-sections and recovering patients in the PACU.
• Administer IV therapy and medications, including anticoagulants and insulin drips.
• Conduct assessments such as sterile vaginal exams and triage obstetrical patients.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families on newborn care and breastfeeding.
• Participate in initiatives promoting safe and evidence-based practices in the unit.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Experience in couplet care is mandatory.
• Current certifications: AWHONN (Beginner/Intermediate), BCLS, FHM, NRP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in ACLS and AWHONN Advanced.
• Experience in triage processes.

Unit Details

• Target Ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Couplet Care 1:3 (average).
• Unit comprises 15 rooms and 17 beds, with the ability to accommodate various patient needs.
• Will consider 13-week contracts with the option for 36-hour work weeks.
• Shifts: 12-hour nights from 18:45 to 07:15.

Additional Information

Weekends required: 8 shifts per contract. The unit operates with modern equipment to support safe patient care. Orientation includes 24 hours of training, supplemented by hospital orientation and unit-specific classes.
