Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Acute Care Unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with diverse medical conditions, including but not limited to diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, gastrointestinal bleed, renal failure, and post-surgical cases.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to safety protocols and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and health status, with the ability to recognize changes in condition and respond appropriately.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on health management and disease prevention strategies.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Must possess current RN licensure and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- ACLS certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required, with 1 travel assignment preferred.
- Experience in a high-acuity medical-surgical unit is essential; candidates should not have exclusively worked in critical access hospitals.
- Strong understanding of patient safety, quality of care, and primary care nursing principles.
- Must be capable of managing a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, caring for multiple patient demographics.
Work Environment
This position involves night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Nurses are required to work every other weekend and will rotate with permanent staff. Dress code includes Caribbean Blue or white scrubs, and strict adherence to health and safety protocols is expected.
