Registered Nurse (RN) – Medicine/Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in Medicine/Telemetry to join our team. This position involves providing exceptional patient care in a dynamic healthcare setting, specifically focusing on medical/surgical needs and telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
• Monitor telemetry patients and respond to changes in health status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Perform IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and phlebotomy.
• Manage colostomy care, feeding tubes, and hemodialysis pre/post management.
• Care for patients requiring central line management and peripheral line care.
• Facilitate non-invasive airway management and oxygen therapy.
• Implement wound care and utilize wound vac systems as necessary.
• Participate in a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team as needed, reporting for duty during catastrophic events.
• Float to various units as required and fulfill weekend duties per contract.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Accepting first-time travelers and local candidates.
• Essential skills include MED/Surg, Telemetry-remote monitoring, management of dysrhythmias, and IV management.
• Certifications required: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
• Preferred experience includes managing surgical drains, accessing ports, and interpreting ABGs.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system is desirable.

Shift Details

• Scheduled shifts: 12-hour days, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Target patient-to-nurse ratios: 1:5-6.
• Required to float between units and meet weekend work requirements.

Orientation and Support

• 24-hour unit orientation provided.
• Mandatory hospital orientation during the first week, with classes each day.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will be expected to pass EKG Testing prior to starting in this specialty role. Scrubs should be navy and white as per the dress code standards.
