Pediatric Psychiatry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Pediatric Psychiatry Registered Nurse will provide specialized care to children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 years in an inpatient setting. The role involves delivering 24-hour care aimed at supporting the mental health needs of patients in a nurturing and non-coercive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients within the pediatric psychiatry unit.
• Utilize trauma-informed and patient-centered approaches in patient interactions.
• Effectively de-escalate challenging situations using verbal communication skills.
• Maintain a clinician to patient ratio of 1 to 3 to ensure focused care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and overall patient care management.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Experience in pediatric or psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Must be able to float to other behavioral health areas as needed.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Additional Information

This position involves rotating shifts as necessary, with night positions not requiring rotation. The unit consists of 30 beds, with a current patient census ranging from 20 to 25. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
