Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) provides essential care in a unit that accommodates patients with varying acuity levels, often reflecting those found in Progressive Care or Telemetry settings. The role is vital for ensuring patient stability and recovery through skilled nursing practices.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3×12 or 4×12 shifts during weekdays, including some weekends
• Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4, with flexibility to adjust to 1:5 in emergencies
• Blocked schedules accepted for weekend blocks only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1.5 to 2 years of nursing experience
• At least 1 year of experience in Medical/Surgical or Telemetry units
• 2 years of experience specifically in Stepdown nursing
• Proficient in reading telemetry strips

Certifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Skills Required

• Ability to start IVs
• Telemetry monitoring skills

Scrubs and Uniform

Scrubs are not provided. Nurses are expected to wear burgundy and/or white scrubs during their shifts.

Electronic Medical Records

Familiarity with Cerner EMR is preferred but not mandatory.

Contract Information

This position offers a contract length of 13 weeks, with the potential for extension based on performance and unit needs.
