PACU Registered Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role and will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs and assess recovery progress.
• Administer medications and manage pain effectively.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality care standards.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Work Schedule

This position includes weekend call responsibilities with a minimum of 1 day of call per week and every third weekend. Additional call may be required based on staffing needs.

Floating Requirements

The PACU Registered Nurse may be required to float within the facility as needed and to Piedmont Macon Medical Center, based on scope of practice.

Holiday Requirements

Travelers are expected to work one major holiday during their assignment. Additional holiday shifts may be required depending on the assignment period as follows:

• One major holiday: Work that holiday.
• Two major holidays: Work both holidays.
• Three major holidays: Work at least two of the holidays.

Major holidays include:

• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday
• Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
• New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day

Certifications Required

• ACLS (preferred)
• BLS (required)
• PALS (preferred)

Compliance

Full compliance with all requirements is necessary to start on time. In the case that compliance is not met, the start date may be pushed back by 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Orientation

The number of non-billable orientation hours is dependent on the length of the assignment (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment, 10 hours for a 10-week assignment).
