Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown unit. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details

• Shift: Night Shift (12 hours)
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week (36-hour options available)
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday

Unit Information

This unit specializes in the care of cardiac medical and surgical patients. Responsibilities include managing post-procedural care and monitoring patients with a variety of cardiac conditions.

• Number of Beds: 29
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 on days; 1:5-6 on nights
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Post catheterization (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR)
  • Post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, bradycardia)

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient conditions.
• Titrate medications as needed, including but not limited to nitroglycerin and heparin.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
• Must-Have Skills:
  • Experience with post-procedural catheterization patients.
  • Ability to manage TR band compression devices.
  • Experience in chest pain management and post-cardiac surgical care.

Additonal Information

• Telemonitoring is available 24/7, with central telemetry for non-critical patients.
• There are Nurse Aides available on the unit to assist with patient care.
