Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse with specialized experience in Labor and Delivery to join our fast-paced and dynamic team. This challenging unit handles a high volume of births and requires a dedicated professional who can thrive under pressure.

Unit Overview

• Fast-paced environment with experience handling over 300 births per month is essential.
• Daily double labor assignments are common; multitasking and prioritization skills are critical.
• The unit averages 20 births every 24 hours, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1.
• The unit provides care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater, as well as high-risk antepartum and postpartum care.
• Special procedures include scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and high-risk maternity care procedures.

Job Details

• Contract Length: Accepting contracts of 13 to 26 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• RTO: Limited to a maximum of 7 days for AYA auto offers.
• Call Requirement: None required.
• Float Requirement: Flexibility to float to special maternity care units as needed.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend commitment; minimum of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience: 2 years required; 3 years preferred for comfort in this challenging environment.
• Traveler Experience: First-time travelers are accepted, provided they have relevant experience in large and high-volume settings.
• Skills: Competency in circulating, performing sterile vaginal exams, and providing immediate newborn care.
• Certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP are required.

• Orientation: 24 hours of unit orientation is provided.
• Scrubs: Blue scrubs will be provided.
