Emergency Psych Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Psych Services department plays a crucial role in the patient care team. This position is responsible for both direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process across all assigned areas. The RN will develop and regularly update individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care, evaluate patient outcomes, and identify available resources for patients.

This position provides care for patients aged 5 and older with psychiatric illnesses, including but not limited to major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, and psychotic disorders. The role also involves caring for patients in need of, or requesting, detoxification services.

Job Requirements

Education:

• 2-Year Associate’s degree required
• Valid State of Maine RN license
• BLS Certification required
• CPI training must be current prior to start

Experience:

• At least 1 year previous experience in mental health nursing required

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Strong team player
• Ability to manage stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure
• Flexibility to provide coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Shift Information

Nights: 7 PM – 7 AM
