Registered Nurse (RN) – MICU

Position Overview

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is dedicated to caring for patients experiencing multi-system failure and complex co-morbid conditions. Common diagnoses include sepsis, pneumonia, gastrointestinal bleeds, and organ failure. The unit comprises two sections: MICU3 with 16 beds and MICU4 with 12 beds, totaling 28 beds staffed by a dedicated MICU team.

Schedule and Hours

• Shift: Night 4×12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30)
• Work Hours: Available options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Scheduling: Every other weekend and every other holiday; must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays
• Time Off: Can approve 40 hours for time off
• Note: Back-to-back weekends off cannot be approved

Qualifications

• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Experience: Level 1 experience required
• Technology: Proficient in Epic electronic health record system
• Compliance: Must adhere to float policy within the organization
• Licensure: Virginia RN license pending can be accepted

Unit Information

The MICU serves a diverse patient population and is designed to provide high-level care for critical patients with varying medical needs. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2, ensuring a focus on high-quality, individualized patient care.
