Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Position Overview:

This position functions as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) unit within a correctional facility, responsible for providing medical care to incarcerated individuals and correctional officers. The role demands adherence to protocols while ensuring a safe environment for all parties involved.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer CPR and utilize AED equipment as needed.
• Monitor and document vital signs of patients.
• Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain safety standards.
• Perform EKG assessments and manage airway situations.
• Transport patients and apply restraints when necessary.

Position Requirements:

• Certifications:
  • New Mexico EMS License or Provisional License required.
  • NREMT certification required.
  • BLS certification required.
• Experience:
  • Not open to first-time applicants.
  • Must be able to work weekends, with every other weekend required.
• Additional Requirements:
  • COVID-19 vaccination is optional; however, reporting of vaccination status is required.
  • No local candidates will be considered within a 100-mile radius.
  • Pending state licenses will be accepted.
  • Requests for time off greater than seven days will need prior approval.

Work Schedule:

• Night shifts: 3 shifts of 12 hours (18:00 – 06:30).
• Guaranteed hours for a 13-week assignment, with a maximum of three call-offs allowed.

Work Environment:

This position is located in a smoke-free facility with no designated smoking areas, including the parking lot. The work involves a range of responsibilities in a high-security setting.
