Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Position Information

The role of the Registered Respiratory Therapist involves providing care in a diverse range of clinical settings, ensuring optimal respiratory support for patients of varying ages, including NICU and PICU populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory therapy in various settings, including acute care, critical care, and pediatrics.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Utilize advanced respiratory equipment such as Drager, Hamilton, and Respironics ventilators, along with high-flow nasal cannula systems.
• Participate in clinical rounds and contribute to continuing education and training initiatives within the team.
• Adhere to established protocols and standards for best practices in respiratory care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in a tertiary, teaching hospital environment.
• Mandatory: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification for NICU practice.

Unit Information

• Dynamic respiratory care team consisting of 14-16 RRTs, providing coverage across various patient units.
• Patient ratios: acute care 1:25, critical care 1:8.
• Utilize electronic medical records system (EMR) EPIC for documentation.
