Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency nursing and be committed to providing high-quality patient care.

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3×12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with the possibility for extension

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced emergency department.
• Float between rapid evaluation units for urgent care and critical care, as needed.
• Support two locked behavioral health units within the emergency department.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in holiday coverage as required during the contract period.
• Handle emergency situations and provide necessary interventions promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department experience required; may consider 2 years of Level I or II trauma experience.
• Precepting and training experience preferred.
• First-time travelers are accepted with at least 3 years of Emergency Department experience.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • PALS
  • Prophecy Relias Advanced Emergency Department assessment
  • 4 hours of annual stroke CE required
• Preferred Certification: CEN
• Maryland RN license or compact RN license required upon submission.

Unit Information

• This position is within a 54-bed Emergency Department.
• The department averages approximately 120 visits per day and treats patients of all ages, including neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric patients.
• Facility recognized as a Primary Stroke Center with Gold Plus recognition from the American Heart Association.
• Care-management and behavioral-health support services are available to enhance patient care.

• One pre-approved time-off request is permitted during the contract. Requested time off must be included in the contract and reviewed with management.
