Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The RN will be responsible for the comprehensive care of assigned patients during their shift while adhering to the organizational mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
• Utilize scientific knowledge and clinical skills to make informed judgments.
• Assist in the education and direction of non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

• Experience in post-operative open heart care is required.
• Critical care experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge in chest tube and other drain management is required.
• Experience with pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access is required.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips and recognizing changes in cardiac rhythms, is required.
• Advanced understanding of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities is required.
• Experience assisting with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, management of temporary pacers, and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices is required.
• The RN must be willing to float to all units within skill level.

Requirements

• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Current and active Ohio RN license or Compact RN License.
• Skills checklist relevant to the specialty (PCU) current to within one year.

Schedule

This position operates on a 12-hour night shift schedule with a guarantee of 36 hours per week. Candidates will be expected to work every other weekend.
