Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position is located on the locked incarcerated unit of a hospital. Candidates must be comfortable working with the prison population. The role requires flexibility to float to other medical-surgical and telemetry units, including forensics, inpatient units, and potentially ICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care to patients within the specialized unit.
• Monitor and assess patient health and respond to medical emergencies as necessary.
• Participate in the holiday rotation, working three of the following designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Engage in scheduled rotations and assist with planning shift swaps with peers when possible.

Certifications Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH)
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification, or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) accepted in lieu of CPI

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers.

Work Schedule

Shifts consist of three 12-hour days, from 07:00 to 19:00.

Please note that all contracts beginning in September should extend into the new year to ensure adequate holiday coverage.
