Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Position Overview

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the orthopedic surgical unit. This role requires a strong focus on patient assessment, critical thinking, and delivering high-quality care to individuals undergoing various surgical and post-surgical procedures.

Shift and Schedule

• Shift: 3×12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
• Weekend Coverage: Every 3rd weekend required

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients post-joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and orthopedic trauma.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor patient status and outcomes, documenting and reporting any significant changes.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures and recovery plans.
• Assist with the management of peripheral nerve block catheters and surgical drains.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and recovery.
• Float between orthopedic and medical-surgical units as required.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical Surgical Ortho setting.
• Must have completed at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Orthopedic experience is required, specifically with peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, and surgical drains.
• Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) is required.

All employees must receive the flu vaccine annually to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
