Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant

The Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant will join a dynamic surgical team, providing support in a variety of surgical cases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to patient care while effectively assisting during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in various surgical procedures, including General Surgery, GYN, Neurosurgery/Spine, Orthopedics, Trauma, and Urology.
• Support the surgical team with intraoperative functions such as tissue handling, clamping/cauterizing, suctioning/irrigation, wound closure, ligation, and drainage tube placement.
• Demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique, instrument processing, isolation precautions, laser safety, and sterilization/disinfection practices.
• Participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage as required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of Surgical First Assistant experience is required; teaching hospital and community hospital experience are preferred.
• Broad Surgical First Assist experience with required case experience, including total joints, breast procedures, plastics, rhinoplasty, laparoscopic procedures, and robotic surgery for colorectal, gynecologic, and urologic procedures.
• Relevant certifications:
  • BLS required
  • NBSTSA certification required
  • CSFA, ABSA, or similar certification required
• Must possess skills and knowledge in first assist techniques and surgical assistance protocols.

Additional Information

• Teal scrubs will be provided; no specific scrub color requirements beyond this.
• Participation in holiday call shifts is expected.
• Random time off (RTO) requests may require approval; specific RTO restrictions apply for holidays and high-demand periods.
