Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Surgery
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Surgery team. The ideal candidate will work in PreOp, PostOp, and PACU settings, providing care for a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Schedule
- (4) 9-hour shifts per week
- Varied shifts: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, and 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Maximum of 7 days off requested (RTO)
- No weekend shifts required
- Floating between all divisions of Outpatient Surgery may be necessary
Patient Care Responsibilities
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients.
- Assist in various surgical specialties including retina surgery, total hip and knee replacements, hand surgery, breast oncology and reconstruction, ENT, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, and podiatry.
- Start IVs and administer conscious sedation as needed.
- Administer general and local anesthesia under supervision.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
- Experience with the Epic and Pyxis systems is preferred.
Patient Ratio
The typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 in a 5-room setting, with an average daily census of 10-18 patients.
Holiday Scheduling
The RN is expected to work on major holidays according to the following guidelines:
- Work one major holiday if it falls during the assignment period.
- Work both major holidays if two fall within the assignment period.
- Work a minimum of two major holidays if three occur during the assignment period.
Major holidays include Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day.
Compliance Requirements
Full compliance with initial requirements is necessary to ensure timely start of employment. Delays due to lack of compliance can extend start dates by up to two weeks due to orientation schedules.
Qualified candidates will undergo a clinical screening to determine fit for the role. Upon passing the clinical assessment, candidates will then be presented to the hiring manager for final consideration.
