Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ED RN will provide high-quality patient care to a diverse patient population, including newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency nursing with the ability to handle a variety of critical situations.

Shift Information

This position requires a commitment to the following shift:

  • 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team to address emergencies such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
  • Utilize specialty equipment including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
  • Administer required drips and medications including pressors, vasodilators, anti-arrhythmics, and sedation agents.
  • Participate in patient triage and care delivery in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accept the responsibility to care for all assigned patients, including those requiring Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department, including pediatric experience.
  • Current AHA certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC are required.
  • Active Nursing License in New York with verification from NURSYS.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC.
  • Demonstrated travel nursing experience is essential.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.

Unit Details

  • Unit capacity: 64 beds with diverse patient pathways including 40 acute beds, 2 trauma beds, 6 super track beds, 2 triage areas, and a psychiatric unit.
  • Responsibility for managing patients with complex medical needs and varied diagnoses.
  • Floating to different areas of the department may be required.
  • Scrub color will be navy blue.
