Shift Information

40 hours scheduled across Sunday to Saturday, from 8 AM to 8 PM. Schedule varies.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with at least 1 year of urgent care experience within the last 2 years.

Certifications & Requirements

• Current National Medical Assistant Certification is mandatory.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Relevant nursing certifications, including RMA, CCMA, or CMA.

Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant provides care to patients of various ages in an ambulatory care setting. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow to maximize provider time and ensure access to care.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately collect and document information in patient charts while maintaining organized records.
• Ensure patient medication and immunization records are current.
• Recognize signs or symptoms that require immediate intervention and act promptly.
• Transport patients within the facility as necessary.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage patient care duties effectively while maintaining clinic flow.
• Report and document any changes in patients’ conditions, unusual incidents, or safety breaches.
• Set up equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures.
• Prepare patients for and assist with procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries.
• Provide specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) following established protocols.
• Assist Providers as directed and within the scope of practice.
• Administer immunizations and injections as ordered by the Provider.
• Prepare, train, and assist clinical staff as needed.
• Participate in cross-coverage to ensure an efficient patient flow across multiple locations.
• Attend and engage in at least 50% of area staff meetings annually and contribute to goal setting.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent nursing degree from an accredited institution may fulfill requirements.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Understanding of clinic procedures and patient treatment protocols.
• Ability to perform age-appropriate vital sign assessments.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and various computer programs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
• Competence in operating medical equipment, including blood pressure cuffs and EKG machines.
• Ability to accurately record patient data across various EMR systems.
• Proficiency in responding appropriately in emergencies and recognizing urgent situations.

Physical Demands

This role involves regular communication, standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to perform clinical tasks. Candidates may be required to lift patients and frequently lift or push/pull weights up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

The work setting includes both office and healthcare environments, with possible exposure to controlled temperature variations and inherent risks associated with patient care.

Holiday Coverage

Holiday coverage is required as part of this role.
