Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

Join a dynamic Emergency Department consisting of 65 beds, featuring a pod-based layout with a separate pediatric pod and an Acute Mental Health area.

Position Overview

This role involves providing comprehensive care for patients in a fast-paced environment, focusing on effective assessment, intervention, and educational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately.
• Administer IV therapy and conduct phlebotomy procedures.
• Manage EKG and cardiac monitoring for patients as required.
• Conduct point of care testing and splinting as necessary.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills while providing patient education and support.

Patient Population

Responsible for patients of all ages within the Emergency Department.

Work Environment

The department manages an average census of 230 visits per day, with a clinician to patient ratio of 1:4, ensuring optimal care delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience is required.
• Certified in AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS. NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.

Shift Requirements

Position available for nights with a commitment to weekends as needed. Rotating shifts may be required upon request, with minimal rotation expected. Note that the night position does not rotate.

Additional Information

• Floating may be required to the ED Observation wing (16 beds) and Acute Mental Health Unit.
• Experience with EMR systems, particularly EPIC – ASAP, is preferred.
