Inpatient Pharmacist

Facility Requirements

• Locals allowed: No
• Radius restriction: 60 mile radius rule, no exceptions
• First-time travelers accepted: Yes
• EMR: Meditech experience preferred

Job/Unit Requirements

• Start date: ASAP
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift schedule:
  • Wednesday to Tuesday (7 on, 7 off)
  • Weekday shifts: 1930-0530
  • Weekend shifts: 1800-0600
• Weekends required: Yes
• License required: Missouri state pharmacy license (facility will accept pending, must be in process or start once offered)
• Certifications required: BLS preferred
• Minimum years of experience required: 1 year

• Dosing for various therapies including:
  • Anticoagulation therapy
  • Clinical dosing
  • Geriatric dosing
  • High-alert medications
  • Pediatric dosing
  • Pharmacokinetic dosing
  • Renal dosing
  • Therapeutic medication monitoring
  • Warfarin dosing
• Intravenous Preparation:
  • Antibiotics
  • Compounding
  • IV piggyback
  • Sterile technique
• Medication dispensing systems experience (e.g., Pyxis, medication unit dose systems)
• Pharmacotherapy Management for Medical Problems in:
  • Cardiovascular
  • Endocrine
  • Infectious disease
  • Pulmonary
  • Renal

Additional Information

Please note that there will be no pharmacy technician coverage overnight; the pharmacist will be the only staff member in inpatient pharmacy during shift hours. Pharmacists are not expected to attend code blues or rapid responses. In addition to order verification, the night shift pharmacist will manage the PharmacyOneSource queue to address any clinical alerts related to pharmacokinetic and renal dosing.
