ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in a Level III Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical intensive care, excellent telemetry skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality care to critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to a diverse population of adult patients with various critical conditions, including substance abuse, severe psychiatric issues, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.
• Collaborate with attendings and residents present in the ICU 24/7 to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips for patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
• Float to medical-surgical units as necessary, managing up to 4-5 patients.
• Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team and provide education to patients and families.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system for patient documentation.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience required.
• Telemetry competency is mandatory.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days and nights as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality nursing care in a high-acuity environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

Work Environment

The position is based in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a community facility equipped with over 400 beds. The environment is fast-paced, requiring strong clinical skills and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs.
