ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team in a Level III Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and be willing to float to Med/Surg areas as needed.

Unit Overview

• 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Patient Care Focus:
  • Substance Abuse/Overdose
  • Severe Psychiatric Conditions
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Sepsis
  • Gastrointestinal Bleeds
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Renal Failure
  • Cardiogenic Shock
• Attending Physicians and Residents present 24 hours a day

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient conditions
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Perform advanced nursing interventions
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members
• Provide education and support to patients and their families

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience required
• Ability to read tele strips
• Active RN license in Massachusetts required
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
• Telemetry competency required
• Willingness to float to Medical/Surgical Units as needed

Work Schedule

• 36-hour work week with rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend
• RN to Patient Ratio:
  • 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients
  • 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas

Charting System

Experience with EPIC EMR preferred.
