Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for a position in the Medical/Surgical and Telemetry unit. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced travelers and first-time travelers to gain valuable experience in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor vital signs and manage telemetry for patients, including remote monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications, IVs, and blood products as per protocols.
• Care for patients with colostomy bags and feeding tubes, ensuring proper management.
• Perform phlebotomy and manage central and peripheral lines, including blood draws and IV starts.
• Assist with pre/post hemodialysis patient management and administer IV insulin protocols.
• Document all care and interventions accurately using Epic and SBAR communication techniques.
• Participate in Rapid Response Team activities and support patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Medical/Surgical or Telemetry setting.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and non-invasive airway management preferred.
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care management, including use of wound vacs.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-driven environment.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.

Scheduling and Orientation

• Target patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:5-6.
• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts, with a commitment of 36 or 48 hours per week accepted.
• Orientation includes 24 hours on the unit, with hospital orientation required in the first week.
• Contract length: 13-26 weeks, with potential for extension.

Additional Requirements

• Must be available for floating as required by unit needs.
• Weekend work requirement: 12-16 shifts per contract.
• Must be prepared to work during severe weather events, mass casualty situations, or disasters.

Patient Population

This unit serves a diverse patient population, including those with conditions such as dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, and GI bleed, among others.

Scrubs

Uniform: Navy and White scrubs are required.
