Occupational Therapist

Shift Information: Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with weekend rotation; required to work on Thanksgiving and New Year’s)

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist is a key member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for developing, administering, and implementing therapeutic services aimed at helping patients regain their optimal level of function in meaningful daily activities, including self-care, leisure, and work. The Occupational Therapist will operate under the supervision of the Home Health and Hospice Manager.

Essential Job Functions

• Evaluate patients’ functional status and interpret and implement the physician’s plan of care.
• Conduct assessments/reassessments and make clinical decisions based on objective tests and measurements.
• Communicate observations, facts, and treatment recommendations as a valuable member of the interdisciplinary team, both individually and in team meetings, to ensure the coordination of care plans.
• Provide education and guidance to patients and colleagues as appropriate.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Recognize and protect the rights of patients.
• Convey empathy and compassion to patients experiencing grief, pain, or trauma.
• Document all communications, coordination, and treatment activities accurately and concisely.
• Adapt to emergency situations and remain alert to changes in patients’ conditions.
• Support the hospital’s mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in required education for DNV programs relevant to the position.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association; eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Desired: Evidence of continuing education relevant to skill level and area of practice.

Licenses/Certifications

• Required: Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the State of Oregon.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Proof of auto insurance.
• Preferred: Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Additional Training

CRASE training will be required if the travel assignment extends beyond a six-month period.
