Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Details

Shift: Days, 7 AM – 7 PM

Weekend Requirement: Yes, 2 to 4 shifts per month (rotated among staff)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will practice independently in a clinical setting, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects related to patient care. The role involves providing both routine and complex care and will focus on developing long-range care goals while effectively managing clinical contingencies. The nurse will be responsible for making appropriate patient assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in alignment with their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol while monitoring for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess patients’ learning needs and educate patients, family members, and caregivers, while identifying resources and issues.

Job Requirements

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• RN License in the state of employment or compact is required.

Work Environment

The nurse may be required to float to all Med/Surg departments within the designated area.

Nurse/Patient Ratio

The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6.

Electronic Medical Record System

The primary EMR system used is EPIC.

Dress Code

Gray scrubs are required as part of the dress code.
