Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse (Med Tele RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals.

Unit Information

• Beds: 24 inpatient beds with the capacity for 10 observation/day surgeries.
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 5:1 for day shift and 6:1 at night (11 PM).
• Common Diagnoses: Includes NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU issues, pacemaker management, sepsis, nursing home placements, and various day surgeries such as ortho procedures, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, TURPS with CBI, and a small pediatric population.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to telemetry patients.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting care and progress.
• Engage in team nursing with LPN staff, understanding their role in patient care.
• Perform IV starts and manage basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge.
• Collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists, utilizing telemedicine resources after hours.

Qualifications

• Current RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing (acute care experience is essential).
• Preferred experience in managing TURPS-CBI patients.
• Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or Trauma Level 3 or 4 facility is preferred.
• Ability to float to like units and care for a diverse patient population.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts available (0700-1900 & 1900-0700).
• Rotating weekends and holiday coverage required (every other weekend and two out of three holidays).
• Flexibility in scheduling is encouraged to accommodate preferred shifts when possible.

Orientation and Training

All newly hired RNs will undergo a structured orientation that includes:

• An 8-hour education day focused on unit protocols and procedures.
• A shadowing period of 4 hours on the first day followed by a 12-hour shift on the second day.
• Independence on patient care responsibilities will be expected after the orientation period.

Dress Code

Solid professional attire is required. Specific colors are not mandated.
