Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg Telemetry unit. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients with various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience and the ability to work a night shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret telemetry data, including rhythm interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Provide care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomy/ileostomy management, and feeding tube care.
  • Assist in pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care.
  • Administer blood products and perform central line blood draws.
  • Management and care of various intravenous lines (PICC, peripheral, and heparin/insulin protocols).
  • Utilize non-invasive airway management techniques, including BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula.
  • Perform wound care and utilize VAC therapy as needed.
  • Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS.
  • Charge experience is preferred.
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS and telemetry monitoring are preferred.
  • Experience with community hospitals is a plus.

Shift Details

  • Night Shift: 18:45 – 07:15
  • Contract Length: 13-20 weeks accepted; options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
  • Float Requirement: May be required to float to other units.
  • RTO: Maximum of 7 days during the contract period.

Candidates should be comfortable working with a diverse patient population, including those with:

  • Diabetes
  • Dementia
  • COVID-19
  • Pneumonia
  • COPD
  • Sepsis
  • Various post-surgical recovery cases
  • Renal failure

Unit Systems

The unit utilizes Pyxis for medication management and electronic documentation systems for efficient patient care.

Orientation and Dress Code

  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours.
  • Scrubs: Navy blue or white.
