Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg/Tele

Job Details

The Registered Nurse in the Med/Surg/Telemetry unit will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care to a diverse population of patients with various medical diagnoses. The role requires proficiency in Med/Surg care with the added capability to monitor and manage telemetry patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Shift Information

  • Shift: Night 3×12-Hour (18:45 – 07:15)
  • Scheduling Type: Self
  • RTO: 7 days maximum
  • Weekend Requirement: Every Other

Patient Care Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor patients with varying diagnoses, including diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI issues, and surgical recovery.
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, with competencies in telemetry remote monitoring.
  • Administer medications and blood products as needed.
  • Provide pre/post-operative care, including management of colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tubes.
  • Ensure patient safety during hemodialysis and other critical interventions, including code blue participation.
  • Utilize advanced airway management techniques and assist with wound care.
  • Perform necessary procedures such as central line blood draws, phlebotomy, and initiating IV access.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg/Telemetry nursing experience.
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications are required.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • ACLS and telemetry monitoring experience on the unit.
  • Knowledge of post-cardiac care, including post-angiogram and post-MI.
  • Familiarity with continuous bladder irrigation, tracheostomy care, and accessing/managing ports.

Additional Expectations

Traveling staff may be required to float to other locations as necessary. All contract staff should be prepared to work during emergency situations, including severe weather or mass casualty incidents.

Unit Orientation

A 24-hour orientation will be provided to ensure familiarity with unit protocols and systems.

Scrubs

Scrubs in navy blue or white are required.
