Certified Surgical Technologist – OR

Position Summary:

The Surgical Technologist acts as a scrub person in the operating room, working under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse (R.N.) to ensure a safe environment, functional equipment, and optimal conditions for patient safety during operative procedures. This role requires expertise in surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the use of tools and technology to support safe patient care during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure completion of case carts per preference cards and accurately interpret them for instrument and supply procurement.
• Maintain clear communication with operating room staff and sterile processing teams to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.
• Review daily surgery schedule with the charge nurse and coordinator from sterile processing, identifying potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Manage core communications and delegate duties as necessary, coordinating breaks and lunch schedules with relevant staff.
• Act as a resource for surgical services and sterile processing regarding procurement of items needed for surgical procedures, both scheduled and unscheduled.
• Collaborate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment.

Shift Information:

• 10 to 12-hour shifts, based on operational needs
• Holiday coverage required

Minimum Years of Experience: 2

Certifications / Requirements:

• BLS/BCLS certification
