Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and possess both BLS and ACLS certifications. This role requires proficiency in patient assessments and competencies in medication administration and titration of drips.

Unit Information

• Number of beds: 16
• Patient to nurse ratio: 1:2
• Common diagnosis/types of patients include:
• Stroke / Acute ischemic stroke
• Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)
• Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
• Subdural hematoma (SDH)
• Brain tumors
• Cerebral edema / Increased intracranial pressure (ICP)
• Hydrocephalus
• Acute respiratory failure
• Sepsis / Septic shock
• Pneumonia
• ARDS (Acute respiratory distress syndrome)
• COPD exacerbation
• Asthma exacerbation
• Acute heart failure / Pulmonary edema
• Acute kidney injury (AKI)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute liver failure
• Severe electrolyte abnormalities
• Clinical tech support: Two clinical technicians for 16 patients
• Required equipment: Mechanical ventilators, High-flow nasal cannulas (HFNC), Noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
• Monitoring: RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring systems

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care, including assessments, monitoring, and interventions
• Administer medications and titrate IV drips as necessary, including titratable drips such as Norepinephrine (Levophed) and Epinephrine
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
• Prepare for and respond to emergency situations

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a critical care or similar setting
• Strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team

Shift Expectations

• Shifts: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
