Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Job Details
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Orthopedic care for a fast-paced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. The role requires dedication to patient management and the ability to work efficiently during high-demand situations.
Contract Information
- Contracts available for 20+ weeks through February 27, 2027.
- Must be willing to work 12-hour night shifts.
- 36 or 48 hour work weeks available.
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO allowed, no holiday RTO approvals.
Patient Population
Average daily census of 37 patients, with a focus on Orthopedic and Neuro spine cases, along with post-surgical and general medical-surgical patients.
Required Skills and Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with a focus on Orthopedics.
- Must be familiar with IV starts and telemetry monitoring.
- Certifications:
- BCLS
- NIH Stroke Scale
- Experience with Epic EMR is preferred, especially for first-time travelers.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- ACLS certification
- Charge Nurse experience
- Level I Trauma experience
Unit Information
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: Expected 5-6:1, with a maximum of 7:1 in extreme cases.
- Travelers may be required to float to other medical-surgical units to meet staffing needs.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend, with a make-up requirement for any missed weekend shifts.
Special Procedures and Unit Environment
This unit demands nurses who can effectively manage pain for Orthopedic and spine patients in a dynamic environment. Nurses will be expected to adapt quickly and provide top-level care amidst various challenges.
Additional Requirements
All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty area.
