Physical Therapist (PT)

This position is responsible for overseeing the Physical Therapist Assistant and Aides. The role is focused on patient care and involves assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation: Assess patients’ functional status through formal and informal testing measures to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular health.
• Treatment Development: Create targeted treatment plans based on assessment data and patients’ ability to adhere to the proposed regime.
• Plan Coordination: Prepare a written treatment plan to be integrated into the overall care strategy, authorized, and coordinated with the physician. Make necessary updates to reflect changes in patient status and co-sign verbal orders when required.
• Scheduling: Develop treatment schedules specifying frequency and duration, and discuss these plans with patients, families, and caregivers while collaborating with clinical support staff.
• Patient Education: Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding their condition, treatment options, prognosis, and the rationale for chosen therapeutic interventions, which may include rest, exercise, modalities, and other applied techniques.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Physical Therapist is required.
• Experience in an outpatient setting is required.
• Active Physical Therapist License in the state of Michigan is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Completed Skills Checklist relevant to Physical Therapy within the last year is required.
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years are required.
