Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU Float

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in PCU Float to provide high-quality care to patients in various units. The ideal candidate will possess adaptability and a commitment to superior patient care across different settings within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics.
• Float to all Medical Surgical (MS), MS/Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units as required.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4-5 in PCU and 1:5-6 in MS and MS Tele units.
• Utilize electronic health records and various clinical systems, including Epic.
• Adhere to established protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH.
• Experience with all PCU diagnoses and familiarity with unit-specific systems.

Work Schedule

• Guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Shifts: Day shifts, 4×12 hours (07:00 – 19:00).
• Must be available to work every other weekend, averaging 6 weekends in a 13-week contract.
• Compliance with scheduling is required; any time off requests must not exceed 7 days.

Holiday and Call Requirements

• Expected to work on major holidays, with specific expectations outlined for assignments covering multiple holidays.
• No call requirements associated with this position.

Additional Information

This role includes mandatory floating between various units within the hospital. Full compliance with orientation and credentialing requirements is necessary prior to the start date. Orientation hours are determined based on contract length.
