Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry

Job Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality patient care in a cardiac telemetry setting. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, managing cardiac drips, interpreting dysrhythmias, and supporting post-operative care.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor.
• Traveler experience is preferred unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Local candidates are accepted.
• Necessary skills include:
  • Cardiac Telemetry
  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
  • Sheath removal and management
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Post-myocardial infarction (MI) care
  • Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
  • Management of cardiac drips (titration required)
  • Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
  • Non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, nasal cannula)
• Certifications required:
  • BLS & ACLS
  • NIHSS

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with arterial line management.
• Wound care or wound vac experience.
• Charge experience.

Unit Details

• Patient Ratios:
  • 1:4 for surgical step-down units
  • 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
• Shift: Nights (36 hours per week)
• Assignment Length: 13-26 weeks accepted
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekends per 4-week rotation (flexible)
• Float Requirement: Follow unit rotation, not first to float.
• Contract staff may be assigned to work in response to catastrophic events or disasters.

• Arterial lines (management not required)
• Doppler ultrasound
• Bladder scanner
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) monitors
