Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes: 12-hour night shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. This position requires floating to different units as needed.

Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend is required.

Job Description

IMPORTANT! A strict attendance policy is in place to support patient needs and ensure adequate staffing. Any RN who is absent from a scheduled shift, arrives more than 20 minutes late, or fails to complete their scheduled shift without prior approval will receive an attendance strike. This includes leaving a shift early without prior authorization.

Accumulating three attendance strikes will result in immediate termination from the assignment.

Extenuating circumstances, such as illness or hospitalization, may be considered with appropriate documentation on a case-by-case basis.

Core Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments upon admission and monitor condition trends throughout the patient’s hospital stay.
• Medication & Treatment: Prepare, administer, and chart prescribed medications (including IVs) and manage wound care or specialized equipment.
• Care Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Patient Education: Instruct patients and families on post-surgery care, medication schedules, and post-discharge instructions.
• Emergency Response: Recognize early signs of medical deterioration and take prompt action to stabilize patients before emergencies occur.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience is required.
• Active Michigan state nursing license required at the time of submission.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification is necessary.
