Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a Sterile Processing Technician with essential experience in sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrap procedures. The successful candidate will work in a Level I Trauma Center environment, handling a variety of cases including Neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, orthopedics, Transplant, and GYN.

Shift Details

The position requires working five 8-hour night shifts from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a rotating holiday and weekend schedule. The technician may be required to float within their scope to meet facility needs, which may involve assignments at sister facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrap of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in the processing area.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to support surgical procedures.
• Participate in an emergency response team during hurricane season, expected from June to November.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
• Experience in a Level I Trauma setting is required.
• National Certifications: CBSPD and/or HSPA are required.
• First-time applicants will not be accepted.

Expected Conduct

• No more than 2 callouts allowed unless a doctor’s note is provided; a third callout may lead to removal from the position.
• Only 3 tardiness occurrences are permitted.
• All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application.
• If holidays are not included in the RTO request and the facility is open, working on major holidays is mandatory.

Additional Information

P parking costs apply only on nights and weekends, and a one-time payment for a parking pass may be required. The environment is dynamic and demands adaptability to various roles and responsibilities as needed.
