Registered Nurse (RN)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse with strong cardiac and PCU experience to provide high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and will embody a respectful, calm, and kind demeanor while fostering teamwork and effective communication.

Patient Population

The Registered Nurse will care for patients with the following conditions:

• Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Post-operative open-heart surgery patients, including TAVR and fem-pop bypass within 24 hours
• Pre- and post-operative open-heart patients (24-48 hours post-op)
• Cardiac arrhythmias and management of Tikosyn therapy
• Pacemaker and ICD management
• PCU-level patients
• Post-cardiac catheterization patients (femoral and radial approaches)
• Patients transitioning from ICU and those with vascular complications, including amputations

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Monitoring and caring for cardiovascular patients
• Identifying and interpreting cardiac rhythms
• Managing cardiology-related treatments, including cardiac drips such as nitroglycerin, heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, and dobutamine
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
• Maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Proven experience in cardiac care and PCU, with the ability to manage complex patient situations effectively

Support and Resources

The department offers robust support, including:

• 2-4 Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) per shift
• Free Floating Charge Nurse
• Flex Nurse available to assist with admissions and discharges
• Access to Hospitalists and Cardiologists available 24/7
• Telemetry technicians to assist with patient monitoring

Scheduling

Details regarding scheduling include:

• Weekend rotation every other week
• Flexibility to pick up extra shifts if desired
• Two out of three holidays will be expected
• Requests for time off (RTO) must be approved by the manager
• Shifts are typically 12 hours, with a schedule cycle set in 6-week periods
