Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Registered Nurse. This role includes rotating shifts among days, evenings, and night shifts, with every other weekend (EOW) responsibilities. The position demands flexibility and the ability to transition smoothly between different shifts.

Unit Description

The Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Unit is a 25-bed facility that includes:

  • Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Postpartum (PP)
  • Newborn Care (NBN)
  • Operating Rooms (ORs)
  • Recovery Rooms (RRs)
  • Antepartum (ANU) rooms

Patient Care Details

The clinician to patient ratio is as follows:

  • L&D: 1:2-3 for evaluations, 1:1 for active labor, magnesium infusion, or epidural administration.
  • Postpartum: 1:3-4 care ratio.

The average daily census ranges from 15 to 25 mothers, babies, and laboring patients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum nursing.
  • Skill sets required include Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, circulating, and newborn care.
  • Current RN license in Massachusetts.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certifications required (renewed every 2 years).
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

Charting System

Experience with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, specifically EPIC, is required.

Additional Information

This position does not require floating to other units. Candidates should be prepared for rotating shifts, with the understanding that the primary schedule will be during the day, with evening and night shifts as necessary.
