Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

A dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse is needed for a Cardiac Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have solid clinical skills and experience in various cardiac care procedures, with a primary focus on providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients with cardiac conditions, ensuring prompt identification and management of dysrhythmias.
• Care for patients post-myocardial infarction and those undergoing cardiac catheterization.
• Administer and manage cardiac drips, including titration as needed.
• Perform sheath removal and care for patients with external CPAP/BIPAP and nasal cannula.
• Utilize telemetry equipment to monitor patient vitals accurately.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in unit rotation and fulfill floating responsibilities as required.
• Meet weekend shift requirements consistently.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required.
• Traveler experience is required unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience is essential.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with arterial line management.
• Wound care and wound vac management experience.
• Charge experience is a plus.

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
• Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
• Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
• Mitral Clip procedure, Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO)
• Various vascular and thoracic surgeries

Equipment Used

• Doppler
• Bladder scanner
• EKG machines
• Chest tubes, Epicardial pacing wires

Work Environment

Staff will be part of a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, requiring availability for duty during emergencies and disasters. Candidates must undergo 24 hours of unit orientation before starting.

Schedule Details

• Shifts: Nights, 36 hours per week.
• Ratios: Varies by acuity, with 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity cases.
• Weekend Work: 4 shifts per 4 weeks, with flexibility.
