Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

An excellent opportunity for experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurses to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic critical care environment. The unit specializes in the management of various neurological patients, including those with stroke, intracranial pressure, and seizure management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to neuroscience intensive care unit patients.
• Monitor and manage intracranial pressure and ventilator settings.
• Administer medication and titrate drips as necessary.
• Operate and manage specialized equipment, including external ventricular drain (EVD), ventilators, and Zoll temperature management systems.
• Participate in patient assessments, documentation, and communication using EPIC and SBAR protocols.
• Float to other ICU and intermediate units as required.
• Ensure adherence to staffing ratios and patient safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Neuro ICU setting required.
• No first-time travelers accepted; local candidates are welcome.
• Experience with stroke management, ICP management, and critical care patient management is essential.
• Valid certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH.
• Successful completion of EKG testing prior to start.

Work Schedule

This position requires working 12-hour night shifts, approximately three times per week, including every other weekend. There is no block scheduling available.

Orientation

A 24-hour orientation will be provided to ensure familiarity with unit protocols and systems.

Scrubs Policy

Staff are required to provide their own scrubs, which should be navy blue, white, or a combination of both.
